What Does a Business Check Envelope Look Like?

A business check envelope looks like a standard white business envelope from the outside, with one critical difference: two clear windows on the front face instead of one.

The top window shows your business return address, which is already printed on the check. The bottom window shows the payee's mailing address, also pulled from what your software printed on the check. When you fold the check sheet and slide it into the envelope, both addresses appear in the correct windows automatically.

No labels. No handwriting. No separate address entry. The information on the check does all the work, which is the whole reason businesses use this format in the first place.

Double Window Envelopes for Checks: Two Sealing Options

We carry two sealing styles. Both use the same double window format, the same 3 5/8 x 8 5/8 inch dimensions, and the same interior security tinting.

Gummed Seal Check Envelopes

Double window check envelopes with gummed seal use moisture-activated adhesive on the flap. Wet the flap, press it closed. The bond holds firmly through the mail. Standard for offices sealing envelopes in smaller batches where speed is not the main concern.

Peel and Seal Check Envelopes

Peel and seal check envelopes have a strip covering a pressure-sensitive adhesive. Peel, fold, press. No moisture, no sponge, no tape. Noticeably faster when you are working through a batch of 30, 50, or 100 outgoing checks in one sitting. Most customers running regular AP or payroll check mailings end up on this version and stay here.

QuickBooks Check Envelopes: Fit Guaranteed

Our check envelopes are specifically sized for QuickBooks voucher checks and all standard computer check formats. The double window positions match the address fields that QuickBooks prints onto your check stock. Load the check, fold it, insert it, and both windows display correctly without any adjustment.

This sounds like a basic expectation but it is worth stating because a lot of businesses order generic #10 envelopes from an office supply store and discover too late that a standard #10 has a single window in the wrong position. A QuickBooks check inserted into a standard #10 shows blank paper through the window.

Check Envelope Size: What the Dimensions Mean

The standard business check envelope is 3 5/8 inches tall by 8 5/8 inches wide. This is sometimes called a number 8 envelope in commercial supply catalogs.

This size accommodates a standard 8.5 by 11 inch check sheet folded into thirds. The check folds once at the lower third and once at the upper third. When inserted properly, the payee address section of the check lands directly behind the bottom window. The return address section lands behind the top window.

If you are using a check format from a different supplier and are not sure whether our envelopes will fit, the fold test takes 30 seconds. Fold a sample check sheet into thirds and measure the address position against the window placement. Both should align cleanly.

Security Tinting on Every Envelope

Every check envelope we sell includes full interior security tinting. This is a dark print pattern across the entire inside surface of the envelope.

Without it, the content of an envelope is sometimes partially readable through the paper when held to bright light. Check amounts, account details, and signature lines can all be visible to anyone handling the piece in transit.

The tinting makes the contents completely unreadable from outside. The only visible information through the envelope is what shows through the two address windows. Nothing else.
