Sage users who process high volumes of vendor payments or payroll runs do not always need a check stub traveling with every payment. When your records live inside Sage and a clean, low-cost per-check format is what matters, 3-on-a-page is the format that makes the most sense.
Checkomatic has been manufacturing ABA-compliant business check stock from Monroe, NY since 1997. Every sheet is pre-printed with your banking details, accepted at all major US banks, and ships with your logo already on it at no extra charge.
What Are Sage-Compatible 3-on-a-Page Checks?
A 3-on-a-page check is exactly what the name describes: three separate checks on a single 8.5 x 11 inch sheet with no perforated stubs. Each sheet produces three individual payments. No tear-off stubs. No extra paper. Your records stay inside Sage.
Sage-compatible means the check is pre-formatted and pre-printed to align with Sage's AP check printing template. Your company name, bank name, routing number, and account number come pre-printed on every sheet. When you run a payment batch through Sage, the software outputs the payee name, amount, date, and check number into the correct fields on each of the three checks. You load the paper, print, sign, and send.
Why Sage Users Choose 3-on-a-Page Format
The 3-on-a-page format suits a specific type of AP operation. It is not the right choice for every Sage user, but for the ones it fits, it fits well.
You do not need physical stubs. If your Sage setup keeps complete payment records digitally and your vendors do not need a stub accompanying the check, there is no reason to pay for paper stubs you will never use.
Your cost per check is lower. Three checks per sheet means a third of the paper cost compared to one-check-per-sheet formats. Over a year of regular payment runs, that saving is real.
Your print runs go faster. Fewer sheets to load, fewer sheets to handle after printing. For businesses cutting 30 or 40 checks at a time, that adds up in a meaningful way.
Multiple accounts, one format. The 3-on-a-page layout works cleanly across different accounts and payees in a single print batch, which matters if you manage AP across more than one entity or cost center in Sage.
Sage 50 and Other Sage Platform Compatibility
Sage 50 (formerly Peachtree)
Sage 50 is the most widely used platform in the Sage family for small and mid-size businesses. Its AP module supports multiple check formats, and the 3-on-a-page option suits Sage 50 users who handle regular vendor payment batches and prefer to manage their records entirely within the software.
Sage 100 and Sage 300
Sage 100 and Sage 300 are used by larger mid-market operations with more complex AP workflows. Both platforms support check printing with the 3-on-a-page format in their AP modules.
Sage Intacct
Sage Intacct is a cloud ERP platform with built-in AP check printing for vendors that do not accept electronic payment. The 3-on-a-page format is used by some Intacct users who run high-volume check batches and want to keep paper costs low.
If your Sage configuration uses a non-standard print template, contact us before placing your order. We custom format check stock to any template at no extra charge, and we keep your layout on file for future reorders.
If you prefer a check-in-middle format for Sage, that is also available. See our Sage check in middle option for the stub-based alternative.
How Sage Check Printing Works
No complicated setup. The process is the same whether you run Sage 50, Sage 100, or Sage Intacct:
- Enter your vendor payments in Sage
- Navigate to your AP check printing module
- Select the payment batch and check number sequence
- Load your pre-printed check stock into the printer
- Print, review, sign, and mail
The MICR line at the bottom of each check, which carries your routing and account number for bank scanning, is pre-printed to ABA standards. Your printer handles only the variable fields. Standard laser or inkjet toner is all you need for most US bank setups. No MICR toner cartridge required in most cases. Confirm with your bank if you want to be certain.
Security Features
Every sheet leaves our facility with six layers of fraud protection built into the paper itself, not applied on top:
- Microprinting along the signature line that blurs on any copy
- Heat-sensitive ink that disappears when the surface is warmed, flagging wash attempts immediately
- Chemical-reactive paper that stains visibly when exposed to bleach, acetone, or solvent
- Void pantograph that reveals the word VOID on any photocopy
- True watermark visible from both sides when held to light
- Coin-reactive ink embedded in the stock
All six exceed ABA specifications. Accepted at Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Capital One, Citibank, TD Bank, and every major US bank.
